About Us

Basingstoke East Scouts was established in May 1979 when youth numbers in Basingstoke reached over 2,000. At the time three separate districts were formed with Basingstoke East being one of those. You can read more about our history here.

Basingstoke East Scouts is defined as ‘covering the civil parishes of: Ellisfield, Herriad, Weston Corbett, Weston Patrick, Upton Grey, Tunworth, Winslade, Cliddesden, Mapledurwell and Up Nately together with that part of Basingstoke Town Centre which lies to the east of the western ring road’.

We are currently at our highest number of young people in the district with almost 800 participating on a weekly basis and almost 300 adult volunteers helping to support this. We have 11 groups and 2 Explorer Scout units which are led and supported by our District Leadership Team and governed by our Board of Trustees.

Everybody is welcome within Scouts. All genders, races and backgrounds and abilities – there’s a Scout adventure out there waiting for them , so why not find out more about what Scouts do and begin your adventure. And we’ll help them find it. Whether you are looking for your child to join or you are an adult volunteer looking to get involved, we have a place for you, so please get in touch and begin your Scouting adventure.
