District Constitution – Your Vote
29 March 2022
During our last AGM a new constitution was proposed. Some updates to that constitution were taken away from the AGM and we are pleased to confirm that we now have the final version of this available.
Our constitution governs the way in which we, as a district govern ourselves as an organisation and as a charity. All our members have the right to vote for this constitution. If you’re an under 18 member then a representative such as a parent or guardian should vote on your behalf.
Why the change?
We are making this change to further professionalise our governance at a district level. Previously district governance posts were held by a majority of Group Scout Leaders or Group Chairs and as part of our ongoing commitment to people, we are ensuring that we are not overloading/working people with too many roles. We are making these changes in order to bring our governance team in line with county and HQ board structures to ensure that we have a broad and balanced membership of this essential team. One of the biggest differences is that there will be portfolio holders for key areas of governance included but not limited to: HR, inclusion, community/lobbying and legal.
