Keeping in touch

Communication Date: 17th June 2024

We are pleased to share some information on keeping in touch throughout the event.

Parents

If you need to contact the event team, please do so by calling the District Events Line on 01256 592382. This will get you through to one of the on-site team or allow you to leave a message.

Remember you can keep up to date with how the event is going by joining our Facebook Group at facebook.com/groups/beeij

We would ask that all contact is via the event team and not directly with participants. We want them to be able to enjoy their Jamboree experience.

Participants

We want to allow as much freedom as possible throughout the event and for participants to really experience the jamboree within a safe environment. Part of this means that we are encouraging participants to bring their mobile phones.

On site they will be given an emergency phone number which they can use to contact the event team. They will also be invited to join a closed WhatsApp group that we can use to message all participants in one go. As with most WhatsApp groups this will then be visible to other members of the group, which will be limited to Basingstoke East Participants and Leaders. If you do not wish your child to join the Whatsapp group, please contact us at eij@bescouts.org.uk. If you do not wish your child to bring a phone then this is no problem, we will ensure that participants are in groups where they either have a phone between them or are with a leader at all times.

Mobile Phones

As mentioned above we are encouraging phones to be brought to this event, not only to keep in touch but to capture memories. However, phones are brought entirely at your own risk, we are unable to take any liability for loss, damage, theft, spending, etc of phones so please ensure you are comfortable with this and have any required insurance in place.

Charging

We have arranged a power supply to our pitch but this does have a limited supply. We are not able to directly charge mobile phones as this would require too many at once to ensure they are always charged. We are therefore asking any participant wanting to bring a phone to also bring a power bank. This power bank can be charged whilst they are off enjoying the programme and allowing them to charge their phones overnight themselves.
