Spending Money at EIJ

Communication Date: 21st June 2024

Just 36 days to go!

We wanted to share with you some more information about spending money for the jamboree. All the essentials are already included in the cost you have paid for the event including the coach travel, event fees, activity zones and all meals (except Saturday lunch).

However, there are also a number of retail outlets on site which you may want to have money for. Where possible the event is looking to reduce cash payments and will be asking where possible for card payments.  For our young people this is also a much safer choice as cash can easily be lost in a camping field.

This can also provide an opportunity to encourage young people to own a prepaid card and become familiar with their use and how to look after them if they don’t already have one. There are various prepaid card options available, we recommend using one which is prepaid only. It is up to you to research and decide which card and account suits your needs.

The event accepts Visa, Visa Electron, V Pay, American Express, Discover, UnionPay, MasterCard, Maestro, JCB, Samsung Pay, Google Pay and Apple Pay. We do not charge any fees when you make a payment, however, your card provider might, for example for currency conversion, so you may want to check with them first.  All payments are charged in GBP.

As mentioned all the essentials are covered so additional money is optional and it’s totally up to you how much you’d like to make available to your young person. We’ve included a little information on some of the retail outlets below

Jamart

Jamart, some may ask what is that? Jamart is the events very own souvenir shop, and like you find in any other similar shop, has pocket money toys, EIJ24 branded items (even branded lip balm and teddy bear) and much more. They also have a tuck shop selling selection of drinks, sweets, chocolate and crisps.

You will also find Infinity Print, One Stop Scouting and Peakland Outdoors in Jamart where you can buy lots of fabulous merchandise, get your clothing personliased and of course get some new camping equipment and clothing.

Noa’s Food Court

Noa’s Food Court is the place to go for dinner, including pizza, burgers, hot dogs, and other meals along with just a portion of chips. Also you’ll be pleased to know if you’re missing your special coffee, you can pop in for coffee and cake, or a lovely waffle or crepe. Noa’s Food Court is a place to come and relax, socialise with friends old and new, share stories and adventures. We also have a covered area and ask everyone to help us by clearing away after you’ve enjoyed your delicious food and drinks!

C&J Ice’s

With the sun shining, we’re all going to want a lovely ice cream, so we’re delighted that the ice cream van will be at Essex with a fabulous selection of cooling delights!
